Title: To Objectify
Medium: Sculpture/Assemblage/Installation.
Materials: Vintage found objects, brass lady bells, ink well, ceramic Laydee teapots and table brushes, a toilet roll cover.
Description:
Continuing exploration of the feminine, drawing attention to cultural and literal objectification of women through their representation as functional objects. Inpiration came from the new ways of display brought about by Ebay. The objects are all quietly domestic and sit passively under the radar. The contemporary and ironic classification of such objects as kistch, allows their harmless cultural processing whilst denying their more disturbing aspects. Viewed retrospectively as a collective, takes them out of their present context, and and highlights the insidious nature and process of objectification.
